By PeeCBee
I bought this so I could finish the celing in my basement without drywall crutches or another person. It works well - even my 11 year old daughter could crank a piece of drywall to the ceiling. My lift has a weld joint on one arm that is slightly bent which is annoying. The manual states it can be used to place pieces on the wall (as well as ceiling), for example when you are running horizontal joints on your wall. This does not work very well as the drywall clips on the arm don't release the sheet. That said, I was able to put 9 sheets of drywall up on my ceiling in an evening with no breakage, of drywall or my back! Glad I bought it. Note that the box is very heavy. Once it is assembled you can move it in two pieces (base and lift).

By Bri
This lift was fairly easy to figure out and assemble. There are 5 major parts (base, tower, 3 support arms)that slide together without tools so it can be setup or broken down quickly for transport and storage. The shipping label said it was 92lbs including the box. I was impressed by the instruction manual which had color photos and clear English. Oddly, my lift had a fairly strong odor similar to cigarettes and burnt electronics. It seems to be airing out now though. The frame seems sturdy but the cable and pulley system used for lifting feels a bit flimsy. My cable actually came off the pulley during the first test but I was able to get it back on after a couple of minutes with an assistant and some needle nosed pliers. It would also bind occasionally and make popping noises. I put some automotive grease on my fingers and ran it along the length of the cable and it is much smoother now. I also try not to crank it too fast and it hasn't given me any more problems in the few times I've used it. I still don't 100% trust it but so far it works and for the ridiculously low price, you can hang drywall by yourself. I also learned that you can buy much lighter drywall these days, an extra bonus as well.

By Ted Fulton
Hoist delivered promptly exactly as described. Worked perfectly, used to lift 4 x 12 foot dry wall sheets to 11 foot high ceiling. Easy, minimal assembly. Easy break down for transport and or storage.
